Crab horror

Being out at the beach yesterday reminded me of this photo. Our two Chiaras were appalled by crab cookery at my best pal's annual post-Thanksgiving seafood feast, November 2004.

In case y’all didn’t know, I’m kinda pissed about Germany beating Argentina out of the World Cup by treachery and sabotage…

From “Morris Dictionary of Word and Phrase Origins”
by William & Mary Morris [modifications mine]:

“Deutch Auction is one that proceeds directly in reverse of an ordinary auction. Instead of starting with a low bid and attracting progressively higher bids, the auctioneer in a Deutch auction starts with a high figure, reduces the price by regular stages and finally sells to the first person who accepts his price quotation.”

So, what I’m getting at is that I’ll bet any one of you $5,000 that Germany will WIN the World Cup at 25 to 1 odds, in your favor. If you accept, the odds and winnings will decrease, exponentially, every fifteen minutes or so. Basically, what will happen if, by some act of God, Germany actually DOES win, you can expect to get no more than $1.20 from me. Any takers?

[Sorry about this Frank, I'm aware of your unfortunate genetic connection to these people. You'll feel better if you just focus on the Celtic part, that's what I do.]
