Dark & stormy night

Our bayou is a lake this a.m. Wind & waves very intense all night. Scary, but we held. Slowly calming now.

Veronica called; she was a little green; rocking and rolling all night. Still rocking and rolling some. No one else is green.

Jerry: Bonfouca Bayou 1/2 mile from Slidell: 30 degs 15 mins N; 89 degs 50 mins W.

They survived another one!

Veronica called again this am; they puttered in the sailboat back, almost to the marina. The bayou is so flooded that the electrical "stuff" that raises the bridge (maybe a rr bridge??) got soaked. The powers that be insist the mechanisms be inspected before they will open/raise the bridge. So for the moment they are stuck up the bayou. V says they are hungry for something other than canned goods so they may stay there awhile and find some decent edibles! All is well except now they're stuck up the bayou and hit another loggerhead. Maybe they will finally get out of there and head for the gulf tomorrow!!!

I haven't heard from V today; she did say there is no cell phone service where they were in Slidell when last I heard from her on Saturday. I imagine they are really upset about not getting out of the bayou when they were charged up and ready to go. M
