And while we're on the subject of disaster relief, let's remember New Orleans 2005. Still significantly unrestored.
If you want to help the people of New Orleans but are worried about your donation being diverted by the corrupt and inept U. S. government, here is one option: Make a donation to the Canadian Government's relief services. That's right, the Canadians. While FEMA and other U.S. organizations sat on their... hands... in nearby states whining, "It's still too dangerous. We can't get in yet." The Canadians were *already* in the thick of it, in the worst-hit areas, giving medical aid, and handing out water, food, and emergency supplies.
As a birthright New Orleanian and survivor of Katrina, I say, "Thank you, Canada! You're a true friend!"
And to George Bush and his band of incompetent criminals, I offer a hearty, "Fuck you, assholes!"
